For a job interview, I was given the project to create a clothing line for the top sales reps at the solar company, SunRun. I was challenged to incorporate three separate logos and apply them to a hat, sweatshirt, and t-shirt. I played around with different ways to combine the logos as well as keep them separate. This project took me around two days to complete and challenged me to think outside the box and utilize my graphic design skills.
To start off this project, I knew I had to come up with a brand persona. Who would wear these clothes? Would they be proud to wear the clothes or would they sit in the back of their closet? I wanted to make sure I understood who I was designing for before I started the design process. To the right, you can see my brand persona and who I thought would ideally wear these clothes.

After creating this persona, I was able to understand what other brands they would wear, so I started to draw some inspiration on it. Below, you can see the mood board I created. I decided on this certain color pallet because I felt these colors were timeless and not overwhelming which played into my design ideas of wanting to make something simple yet sleek.
The next goal was to utilize two different logos and the word “status” in each of the clothing items. Below are the custom logos I made while incorporating the three requirements: the word “status”, the tally brand mark, and the “RunX” logo.
The logos to the left, below, were a compilation of playing around with different ideas and fonts to create something sleek and professional. The final idea I chose to go with was the largest logo in the middle. The hope for this logo would be for it to be embroidered in either black, cream, or navy blue thread.
During this project I was able to utilize adobe illustrator to create these designs as well as use Figma to create a polished document explaining my design process. I was able to create a tech pack with individual clothing item specifications, as well as a mood board, persona, and different logo design ideas for the clothing items.
Overall, I had fun using my graphic design skills, and liked to push myself to try something new and go outside the box with this project. I enjoyed creating a user persona and imagining who would wear these clothes and why. The thought process behind why I made these design decisions was carefully made, and I wanted to create something that showed my design skills as well as who would wear these clothes.
The final step in this project was to create a tech pack. A tech pack is ultimately the specifics for clothing items before the designs get sent to be made, including detailed information such as measurements, materials, colors, stitching, and placement of logos to ensure manufacturers can accurately produce the final garments. Below is the tech pack I made
After creating the logo, I went right to work and started designing the clothing items. For reference, I used Adobe Illustrator to make these mockups. These apparel designs reflect SunRun’s mission by incorporating modern aesthetics that are everyday wearable, with high quality designs and high quality fabrics. Each piece is up-to-date on current fashion trends that push the design to be more wearable and timeless. Something to note is the logo “Status” changes between pieces and is ultimately interchangeable between designs. Take a look at the designs below!
